The Gabosch Dam Project continues to make significant progress as the project team successfully adapts the construction programme to reflect actual site conditions and completed works. A comparison between the July 2026 and September 2026 programmes shows how the critical path has evolved from the major concrete structures and diversion works toward the construction of the asphalt core and rockfill embankment, which now govern the final sequence of activities leading to project completion.
With approximately 80% of the overall works complete, major milestones including phased river diversions, spillway structure, intake works, retaining walls and substantial portions of the gauging weir have been successfully delivered. As these sections reached maturity, the programme was strategically rescheduled to focus on the embankment works that are fundamental to the dam’s completion. The asphalt core, transition and filter zones and upstream and downstream rockfill layers have consequently become the primary drivers of the project schedule.
The latest programme update demonstrates the project team's ability to proactively manage changing site conditions, integrate completed works into the overall construction sequence, and maintain a clear focus on critical deliverables. While the critical path has shifted as construction progressed, Practical Completion remains targeted for April 2027, reflecting a disciplined approach to programme management and coordinated execution of the remaining works.
This achievement highlights the value of the collaborative partnership between Gabosch Dam Project's Engineering Consultant, AFI Consult, and the Contractor, Unik Diphatse JV. Together, the teams continue to demonstrate strong engineering leadership, construction expertise and programme management capabilities, ensuring that complex challenges are addressed proactively while maintaining momentum toward successful project delivery. Through continual planning, monitoring and critical path optimisation, the project remains focused on delivering a strategic water infrastructure asset that will serve local communities for generations to come.
